Get The Look: The Cover up

1 Floral kimono

Style your bikini up with outerwear.

Slip a light weight oversized Kimono over your bikini for a little cover up perfect for lounging around on the sand. This look is great for street-to-beach transport and the boho fringe brings a little style to basic beachwear. A dark black based kimono works great with a monochrome striped bikini to keep the overall colour palette neutral and let the floral pattern be that pop of colour that brightens up a dark look. Throw on a pair of strap sandals and sunglasses to really tie together that laid back effortless look that turns your swimwear into casual wear.

In the Press – Cleo

Published this October, we were excited to hear that we were featured in Cleo’s swim edit, charting their ultimate guide to swimwear this summer! Kini Swimwear featured alongside major retailers such as Asos and Billabong in Cleo’s guide to swimwear trends. As Australia’s first custom swimwear brand, we could not be happier that attention is being brought to the rise of custom swimwear in a mass market.

Cleo chose to showcase a Kini design in a navy and white nautical print, one of this seasons hottest trends, yet elegant, as the design has been paired with a retro style high waisted pant and underwired top. As well as being loved by Cleo, fashion blogger Ally from Substance Blog is an advocate of the nautical trend, as you can see from her stunning collaboration with Kini earlier this year. Take a look at our guide for some hints and tips on rocking the nautical style this season.

Substance X Kini Swimwear: Spots

Last week we shared with you the striped bikini designed by Ally Carey of Substance Blog. This week, it’s time to admire her second creation, and this one’s all about polka-dots!

Polka-dots are often associated with vintage styles, and that’s exactly where Ally pulled her inspiration from, channelling her “mum and her sisters in the 70’s when beach culture was prominent.”

You can buy both of Ally’s designs from our ready-to-wear shop, or create your own bikini using our custom swimwear design tool. If you buy during October, a portion of proceeds will be donated to the NBCF to support the fight against breast cancer. There’s no better time to buy a custom kini!

We’d love to know which design is your favourite – STRIPES or SPOTS? Leave us a comment in the box below!

Substance X Kini Swimwear: Stripes

Here at Kini, we love seeing the amazing designs our customers come up with, and stripes are always a popular choice. It’s a print that never goes out of style. Vertical, horizontal, diagonal, black, white, rainbow – the possibilities are endless.

We recently collaborated with Ally Carey of Substance Blog to design two custom bikinis. Her first design was a classic sliding triangle style with black and white stripes – it reminds her of a bikini she adored as a teenager. That’s the great thing about Kini, you can create a bikini from scratch or recreate something you love!

The good news is, you too can design your own custom swimwear, simply by heading to our website. It doesn’t end there either. If you have fallen in love with Ally’s simple striped design like we have, you can buy it from our ready-to-wear bikini shop. We love making it easy for women to find their perfect piece of swimwear!

Remember, there’s only a few days left to support the fight against breast cancer by buying a bikini during the month of October. Buy before the end of the month and $5 from the sale will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. There’s no better time to buy a bikini from Kini Swimwear.

Happy bikini shopping!

Blogger Interview – Ally From Substance Blog

This month Kini is collaborating with one of our favourite bloggers, Ally Carey. Her blog, ‘Substance Blog’ is filled with health, fashion, lifestyle and beauty posts that we love reading. Ally is a woman of many talents – a model, owner of vintage clothing store Who Killed Bambi, freelance social marketing manager and of course, a full time blogger. Talk about girl power! Not only did Ally design two amazing pieces of custom swimwear with Kini, but she also agreed to answer a few questions for us.

Why we’ve gone dotty for polka dot swimwear

In July we teamed up with the gorgeous Ally from Substance Blog and she designed her very own Kini in a navy and white polka dot print. As always, she was ahead of the trends as polka dot is one to watch this summer, and she rocks it here in a slide triangle top with high waisted pant.
